Terrible, they will steal

1 Star (If I could give zero, I would.)

I’ve had the absolute worst experience imaginable with Clutter. They have completely taken advantage of me and trapped my belongings in their system. I’ve been trying to get my items back for two weeks, and every single appointment they schedule gets canceled by them—yet somehow, I’m the one getting charged for each canceled appointment.

To make things even worse, they want to charge me $400 just to pick up my own items myself. That’s beyond absurd. I made it clear that I needed my things before Christmas, and now I’m being told I won’t get them until next year. This company has zero regard for their customers’ time, money, or basic decency.

They overcharge, underdeliver, and then make it nearly impossible to get your stuff back. I feel completely stuck and powerless. If you’re considering using Clutter, don’t. You’ll regret it. Their customer service is unhelpful, their system is broken, and their business practices feel borderline predatory.

Save yourself the nightmare—go anywhere else.

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THEM

Their storage facility is rat infested and hot. My blood pressure cuff melted. My bag disintegrated. I was seeing this power residue and it was my bag. A lot of my clothes faded on each other because of high temperature in the storage. Oh my gush, there was rat shi! for days. My kitchen things, clothes, books, papers, kids toys, etc all had to be thrown away because of rat poop, broken, mold, and discoloration. They said to put a claim in. Ok, the way the set the claim up is for you to find a store online that list your item for the price and if you cannot find the item they will only pay you $1 for your item. Yes! You heard that correctly. And, on top of that they charge you over 400.00 to remove your things from the storage, even if you go get them yourself. And, do not forget that is over 400.00 plus the monthly payments that they were deducting. Those high reviews are either payed, self reviews, or not real customers. Oh, the rats did not just lived and poop in my thing but they also had a feast on whatever, clothes, shoes, bags... whatever. Oh, my shoes and leather coat gone. The heat did a number on those. My boxspring and mattress both had large what looks like water stain on them. As, I unboxed my things I couldn't stop crying. I will be calling the news to also report so they can film those rat shi! and my loses. This is freak nasty, disappointing, waste of money, upsetting, and taking advantage of people.

$1,300 of Items Lost/Damaged,

Review for Clutter Storage & Moving

We recently used Clutter for storage, and when our items were returned, one large box was missing and another item was damaged. The combined value of those items is approximately $1,300.

After submitting a claim, Clutter offered just $80 in compensation. Their team repeatedly stated that higher compensation isn’t possible because the items were “not insured.”

This reasoning is deeply flawed. Insurance covers unforeseen events—not operational negligence. Losing a customer’s box is not unforeseeable; it reflects a failure in basic responsibility and inventory control.

If Clutter’s position is that customers must absorb the financial loss when Clutter misplaces or damages belongings, that raises serious concerns about accountability and business practices.

We trusted Clutter with our possessions and instead ended up with a significant loss and no meaningful support. Customers should not carry the burden when the company fails to track and return their items properly.

We’re sharing this so others are aware of how claims and losses are handled. A $1,300 loss with an $80 payout is unacceptable and reflects poorly on Clutter’s commitment to customer care.

DON'T USE CLUTTER - FIND ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY!

This is my second time using Clutter and they have since gone downhill from how they run the company. They may have a good app to track the truck, but that's about it. I recently used them to move from one house to another in Los Angeles and they somehow figured out a way to lose a box of valuable furniture. How do you lose a box if you are only moving one person's belongings directly over to their new house? I then tried calling their "customer service" who are all offshore based and know absolutely nothing about anything. After my 7th attempt, I finally spoke with someone in the US who ultimately said they checked with the movers and they don't remember... of course they don't.

Additionally, the movers are not trained very well in how to package furniture for a safe move - they haphazardly put boxes together and just dump large items in them.

Furthermore, they have a lot of hidden fees so you should beware of their unscrupulous marketing tactics.

There are plenty of better, more professional movers out there. I now have to spend way more money replacing the items they lost - GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR ITEMS LOST AS WELL!

Cancelled less than 24 hours before move!

Booked a move nearly a month ago and Clutter canceled via text mere HOURS before our scheduled appointment on the final day of our lease. A shameful way to do business. I had followed up many times via phone to confirm appointment and after they cancelled, they rebooked my appointment seven days later (not helpful when you carefully plan a move far in advance!) When I spoke to a rep, they didn’t even have the right rescheduled date on hand. A total sham of an operation.

Beware of Clutter Storage - A Nightmare Experience

If you're thinking about using Clutter for your storage needs, think again. I cannot stress enough how frustrating and disastrous my experience has been. I had stored the entirety of my 2-bedroom condo with Clutter for three years, paying for an extra-large unit to ensure all of my belongings were safe and secure.

But when I finally decided to close my account and have my items delivered back, what I received was nothing short of a nightmare. Clutter delivered only 20% of my belongings. That’s right—80% of my items, including expensive furniture, artwork, and personal items, are nowhere to be found. When I contacted Clutter, they had the audacity to claim that there was nothing else in my unit.

I immediately called their customer service, but instead of helping me resolve the issue, I was sent to a call center in India where the representatives were unhelpful and refused to escalate the issue. Despite demanding to speak to a manager, I was told one would call me back—but no one ever did.

Frustrated, I filed a claim online weeks ago, yet there has been no response. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I recently learned that the insurance on my belongings only covers up to $1,000. I had no idea about this limited coverage when I entrusted Clutter with my valuable items, and now it feels like I’m stuck with a fraction of what I had.

This company has shown zero accountability, and I am left with missing items, a broken system, and no help in sight. If you're considering using Clutter for storage, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This is not a company you can trust with your valuable items.

Clutter is the worst company ever.

They delivered all my items about 97 items and when I got my delivery all my furniture came back damaged I had 2 broken tables that you can never use, my server was all damaged and chipped and the legs of course were cracked, my dining room table which was purchased 3 months before I had to move was completely destroyed one the attachments to the table were all bent and one leg was cracked I had to order all new parts for this table, my babies crib and dresser were chipped every where and my baby right now is about a year and half, my beds the plastic cover was ripped in a few places and those parts where all black and damaged, my oven came in with broken parts on the inside, they did damage a few walls in my brand new house even my bed frames the legs are missing. overall I had the worst experience moving into my new house gets worse and worse as I open the boxes more things are damaged and there only giving me 2500 dollars for all my danged items which was more that 15,000 dollars worth of items. I provided them every single link of the product to show them the price of everything. FYI the delivery was 12/4/19.

DAMAGE is their name and non reimbursing you is their game.

I have used Clutter for years and have told everyone I know about this unique service. However, in the past year I have multiple items broken, lost and damaged due directly from mishandling by their movers. Not only did Clutter say they would not reimburse me (and some of these items were very valuable and sentimental), but they also took a very cold and inflexible attitude, offering no solutions and taking zero responsibility for their employees/contractors. I don't think customers should have to pay for insurance to cover the cost of items being lost by the company or blatantly broken by their movers. Clutter has also up-charged me and changed my rates without notice and not all their movers charge the same. You cannot count on honesty or integrity with this company. I have gone from a huge supporter to actively posting updated reviews on their increasingly terrible customer service and moving staff. I wish I had read some of the reviews on this site earlier as I see "damage" of belongings is a common thread. I am devastated by this last move with Clutter, and it will definitely be my "last" service with them after I call for the rest of my items. Current customers should be extra careful because even if they had great service and no problems for years, this is no longer the case and the company does not care about loyalty or good business practices. I'm attaching photos of the damages and missing items such as broken parts cracked all the way through (but taped up like I might not notice), shattered lamps, damaged leather on vintage furniture, and even worse, lost shelves to a buffet cabinet - which obviously makes it 100% unusable. None of which was covered by the company. And they were very rude about it, which surprises me after all the early years of taking to the same owners/managers and feeling like I was in great hands. All I had was a few things delivered and a few items picked up so it wasn't a big move, but yet it was the worst one yet. I have used Clutter multiple times over the past 4-5 years totally several thousands in service, not including a monthly fee of close to $200 per month.

Stay Clear of Clutter.

I have never written a negative review or filed a complaint with any agency regarding a business; however, this experience was beyond anything I could have imagined. When Clutter came to pick up my items almost 2 years ago, they did an excellent job. I was so impressed I referred several people to them. I requested certain items a few times and they delivered them on time and without any problems.

In January 2020 I requested that all of my belongings be returned to me. One of the two men that delivered the items went from being very kind and helpful to extremely rude and somewhat abusive within a moments time. I asked them to place the boxes against a wall with the labels showing so I would know what was in each box. Obviously, that was too much to ask as there were boxes everywhere.

He was going to leave my Chattam & Wells ($6000 to replace) mattress, box spring and frame against the wall which was wrapped in heavy duty plastic. I asked him to please place them on the frame for me and I thought he was going to lose it, telling me they do not do that. Seriously? I am a disabled senior.

When they left, the first thing I wanted to do was make the bed. I was mortified to find dust and filth covering the entire mattress as well as black marks and holes in the box spring, which they packed. The brand-new carpet in the bedroom was tracked with black footprints, several collector items were broken, the armoire was majorly scratched and the crown molding was broken ($2000 to replace). An irreplaceable Antique Glass and Metal Industrial Pendant Light Fixtures 24 x 24, (from, I think, The Brown Derby or somewhere similar no longer in business) which they packed was destroyed. Inside of probably 25% of the sealed boxes was disgusting dust and filth. The exterior of all the boxes were covered in filth. Among other items, I am missing a steam cleaner which they said was delivered and which was not, or I guess the steam cleaner decided to walk out of my place on its own.

Clutter had/has no regard for my belongings, neglected to provide clean, safe storage and hires incompetent people with a complete lack of customer service.

For all of this I was reimbursed $1106 which is completely unacceptable as this was due to their negligence and substandard storage facility.

Efficient, Easy, and worth it!

Wow - not having to move all my stuff myself into a storage unit and have people pick up for you makes life so much easier. At the end even though the actual cost per month might be a bit higher it is WORTH IT - these are things money are for - to make your life easier. I had about 26 items ranging from small boxes, suitcases, mirror, umbrellas, my AC unit and dresser and they wrapped and boxed anything that needed it. It took about 2 hours start to finish and I went with the smallest 5x5 space. Happy about it!! Use my referral code for $100 off: T3DP7T

Also the movers, William and Justen were super friendly and helpful.

Customer Service

I had a Dinning set delivered on Oct. 1st 2021.7 of my chairs that were delivered 6 chairs were badly damaged, legs and arms of my chairs were broken. This is French Provincial Furniture and very expensive. This is the second time that this has happened. I had a coffee table that was delivered and it was totally destroyed. These items are stored at Clutter Inc. Facilities. They do not compensate the customer's for the true value of damaged or lost merchandise. Very horrible experience I have had dealing with this company. You are at there mercy because they have your precious valuables at their Facilities.

They lost a King Mattress

Do not store your items with Clutter.

After storing my items for 8 months, and having them delivered back, Clutter lost my KING mattress and they stated that they are "sorry for the inconvenience and apologized for the frustration", but the fact of the matter is, they lost an esencial item and I don't have a place to sleep tonight. Furthermore they asked me to patiently wait for a follow up in 1-3 business days. What I'm I supposed to do in the meantime? They kept telling me all these scripted answers with the calmest and/or sweetest voice but they are not taking immediate responsibility for the huge inconvenience and I'm on my own to figure out what to do, regarding sleeping arrangements in a new town.

Completely unacceptable, beds should be reimbursed right away, they are essential. You can live without a couch or a table but not your bed. How do you loose a huge King mattress is beyond me. Customer service is terrible, and won't resolve anything.

To add insult to injury, many of my items were filthy, sticky, stained and dusty in spite of being wrapped. I pointed out this to the movers and they said "it's from the blankets" so I guess they have never been washed, because how can an item accumulate that much dust in 8 months. I also had an new chair with a damage, like it was dragged on one corner UGH.

Do not hire them for storage, you'll be better storing the items yourself in a way they will not be dirty, damaged or lost.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! 2 TVs broken

Professionals HAHA what a total joke! Clutter was one of the absolute WORST experiences we have ever had. They spent HOURS boxing things unnecessarily to then barely wrap the TVs which they broke and would not take responsibility for. Additionally they rubies out dining table and again zero responsibility. Customer service.. even worse! Stay away from this company at all costs. Their "photos" for storage are worthless as is everything they do. I regret ever coming across this sham of a company.

DO NOT TRUST CLUTTER!

DO NOT USE CLUTTER! TERRIBLE SERVICE; REFUSED TO REFUND US FOR ITEMS THEY DAMAGED; AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

Summary:

Clutter was terrible to work with, from beginning to end. I paid for their white-glove packing service, they were 24 hours late for my scheduled move, and when my items were returned to me from storage, I came to find that they had packed my fine china, glassware, and silver at the bottom of large wardrobe boxes--with no wrapping-- & heaped heavy ceramic dishes and stainless steel pots and pans on top of them. Several of my items were destroyed. In spite of filing claims through their site and reaching-out to customer service repeatedly, they have refused to reimburse me on the basis of a predatory company policy (detailed below).

Full story:

I initially hired Clutter in May 2021 to pack & store the contents of my apartment (white glove service). This service includes all packing materials, along with several movers to pack the items by hand. I made the reservation weeks in advance to secure the earliest morning slot, which was critical to accommodate the move-out procedure in my building. The day of the move, the movers arrived more than 7 hours late. They had no boxes or moving supplies with them, the crew was short by one person, and they had no room on their truck for our belongings. They had no idea what to do when they showed up at the apartment. After I spent hours trying to get ahold of a human being in customer service (it's almost impossible to get someone from Clutter on the phone), Clutter informed me that they would not be able to accommodate our move at all that day. Our reservation was for 7AM that morning--by the time I finally spoke to someone, it was after 5PM. Our building management office was closed & we were put in a precarious position of having our movers show up the following day without an elevator reservation.

While they did give us a nominal refund for the inconvenience (a few hundred dollars' off our monthly storage fee), we could never have imagined the havoc they would continue to wreak...

We scheduled a delivery of all of our items/boxes in February 2022. We had to arrange for movers to pick-up our goods at the Clutter warehouses in New Jersey and move them to Austin, TX. Clutter does not offer long-haul moving, nor do they allow you to retrieve your boxes at their warehouse sites without an insured mover. Therefore, the only way to receive your items outside of their delivery radius is to hire a third-party mover.

When our movers arrived in TX I began unpacking and immediately realized Clutter's "packing professionals" had placed fragile items--including fine china, glass stemware, silver--at the bottom of large wardrobe boxes, with essentially no protective wrapping. They then packed heavy pots and pans and ceramic dishes ON TOP of these fragile items. Naturally, several items were destroyed. I immediately called Clutter customer service when I saw the first of the damage and explained how poorly the items had been packed--emphasizing that the damage had nothing to do with how the movers handled the boxes, and everything to do with how the boxes were packed. The customer service representative told me to unpack everything as quickly as possible to limit further damage, and to carefully photograph/document the damage so that I could file claims on the Clutter site for reimbursement. I proceeded to unpack, and was in awe of how carelessly the Clutter team had packed many items. In addition to the kitchen items, $2000 dollar lamps were placed in a box with no wrapping and, unsurprisingly, the electrical components were broken off of the base of the lamps.

I carefully documented the damage, uploaded each individual claim, & provided links to where the items are available for purchase online to establish a fair market value for reimbursement.

After filing my claims, I received an automatic response from Clutter informing me that my claims were denied, on the following basis:

"In order to be eligible for reimbursement under (ii) or (iii), you must timely notify Clutter of any applicable damage while Clutter personnel remain present during or after the performance of services. Clutter shall have the right to decrease or deny reimbursement to the extent that your or a third party's negligence or willful act contributed to the claimed damage."

I immediately disputed, explaining to customer service representatives that the damage was entirely due to how the boxes were packed. There was no way for my movers to know about the damage when they picked-up the boxes, because the boxes were sealed. Hence, there was no way to inform Clutter of the damage with a Clutter representative present--making the policy predatory in nature.

Customer service representatives acknowledged these facts yet have repeatedly refused to reimburse me for the items.

Moving is stressful enough--avoid Clutter at all costs!

Horrible moving and storage

Do not use Clutter for moving or storage.

I hired Makespace (now Clutter) to move and store some of my belongings for 10 months.

When my items were returned, I discovered that my desk had been broken in half. Of course, they didn't notify me about this damage until my items were returned from storage (which is convenient for them because this desk took up approximately 15% of the 199 cubic ft. of storage they charged me for each month).

Clutter also lost some of my belongings which I'm not sure I'll ever see again. The items they did return came back covered in dust, dirt, and debris. Honestly, it looks like my stuff was sitting outside for an extended period of time.

On top of this, Clutter increased their pricing mid-contract which I never agreed to. Finally, when you do want to get your items delivered they will make you pay a $189 service charge, a $25 preferred scheduling charge to be able to choose the day you want your items delivered, and a labor rate of $78 per hour per mover on the day of delivery (and of course they will send multiple slow movers so they can charge you as much as possible).

Like I said, do not use Clutter for moving and storage unless you want a huge headache and a bunch of ruined stuff.

Absolute worse! Do not Use! Broken, Lost and missing pieces. All items were packed by their people, photographed before packing. I had so many items damaged, antique radio, secretary, bar stools among other things. I purchased an extra $2500 in insurance from them to cover such issues and they would NOT PAY ME even though they had the before and after pics. THEY ARE AWFUL.

Worst moving experience of my life

I have no words to describe how horrible my experience with Clutter has been. Starting with the deceit and hidden fees all the way to destroying half of my belongings and furniture, including my TV, my ceramic tables, vases. Almost every item they moved and packed at least had a scratch, and the majority of my high value items were completely destroyed. I signed up with this service thinking I would pay x amount (like they advertise when you sign up), but the day of the move, the fee increased by $500 without an explanation. They claimed that was what was shown the entire time? Lies. Refused to fully reimburse all my damaged belongings, and oh doesn't matter if they destroy your entire household items and everything you ever owned, per their policy, they will never refund more than $2500. Horrible experience, damaged my old apartment during the move-out and my new apartment during the move-in with scratched on the floor, walls and debris everywhere. I wish I read a review like this before spending almost $4000 in moving, packing, and storage fees (FOR ONLY ONE MONTH). This ridiculous amount doesn't even cover all the money I lost from them destroying half of my furniture. Please avoid them like the plague - if you think you're saving money, you will absolutely end up paying at least double the amount in "hidden fees". I have moved a dozen of times before, and even from coast to coast, and have never had a horrible experience like this one. If you care about your money, your belongings, your sanity and mental health do not use this horrible company.

BEYOND HORRIFIC

AVOID AT ALL COSTS – More like a demolition company rather than a storage company, here is a breakdown of my experience and the reasons why you should NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER use them:

1. THEY WILL BREAK ALL YOUR STUFF: Once I finally was able to get my things returned, my moving company called me as soon as they received to alert me that it appeared that at least half of my things were damaged (my mover said that in 24 years of being a mover, he has never seen anything as bad as the condition they returned my things in). In total they completely DESTROYED 3 upholstered chairs (legs broken off all 3), 1 hamper, 1 marble table (split in half), 1 side table, 1 civil war trunk, 1 large framed piece of art. Separately they DAMAGED 1 sofa, 1 side table, 2 chest of drawers, 1 bar cart, 4 dining chairs, 1 bed frame. All of the china and dishware was ok as I packed it, everything that they packed, was either destroyed or damaged. Estimated total replacement cost is $32k.

2. REIMBURSEMENT IS A JOKE: It is on you to report any damaged items and you have to provide photographic proof taken the day they were delivered – and they will still fight you on it being their fault and only pay $1 per 1b for reimbursement. As I was in California and could not travel to see delivery due to cancer treatment, I used the images that my movers took as well as the waybill they provided to show proof of damage. After many many emails and attempts at contacting them and submitting claims, they reimbursed me for half the cost of delivery of my items (I had to pay $1000 for them to return my things so they reimbursed $540 from that), they paid me $175 for the claim I submitted for how emotionally distressing the whole experience was, and then all in for the reimbursement for damages to all my things was a whopping sum of $349.

3. IF YOU WANT ANY MONEY BACK, YOU HAVE TO SIGN AN NDA: As I said the total they were willing to reimburse me for the damage and destruction of 18 of my items was $349, however in order for me to receive the money I had to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) saying I would never publicly say anything bad about them – this includes reviews - which is totally unethical from a company that services the public (and not even sure if that is legal). As I refused to sign the documents, they said I could not receive the reimbursement. I would rather be able to share this review than be silenced for a few hundred dollars.

4. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER: You will never get the same person on the phone (if you are lucky enough to even get a call back), in order to be in touch you have to send them an email, request that they call you (which they generally don’t unless you harass on all ends) or through their online chat. Anyone you connect with will only reiterate the rules to you and you will not speak to anyone of any authority, nor will they ever admit to any accountability for the damage they have caused or the distress. They do not treat you like you are a human being and it is clear they are told not to admit any guilt or fault.

5. YOU HAVE TO PAY TO GET YOUR THINGS BACK: You cannot go to their warehouse or send movers to their warehouse, you have to PAY their Movers (at $78 an hour per mover) to return your things to you – I was charged $971 just for them to return my (very broken and damaged) items to my own movers.

6. SCHEDULING A RETURN IS A NIGHTMARE: I could not schedule a regular return on their online system because I was in California undergoing cancer treatment and needed things delivered to my movers so they could ship across country to me. After three weeks, two call requests, three chat requests for a call and DM’ing their social media account, I finally got someone to return my request for a call to figure out a location for delivery of my items as my moving company was ‘out of their delivery range’ (by about 1 mile) and since they do not allow anyone to go pick up directly from the warehouse. They finally made an exception for me and called me back, agreeing to deliver to my mover’s warehouse.

I do want to note that I actually never engaged Clutter directly, I arranged storage with the company MakeSpace which was purchased by Clutter (directly following that, Clutter then increased my monthly storage fee by $70).

Given the amount of money I spent on storage for two years, the cost of the return of my items and the cost to replace or repair what they damaged or destroyed, it would have actually been more cost effective for me to just destroy my things on my own and bought new things when I wanted to. And would have certainly saved me a lot of headache and distress, all while I was undergoing cancer treatment. Clutter is literally, THE WORST.

Don't be fooled by what seem like low prices...

Clutter uses bait & switch prices to lure in new customers, while trapping existing customers with ever increasing monthly rates. I have been a customer since 12/29/20 and in the 2.5 years that I've had my items stored with Clutter my bill has gone from $189/month to $302/month. I was told in writing at the time that these increases were due to cost increases in fuel, raw materials, and labor wages and that "Clutter has increased fair wages and benefits for both hourly and salaried team members because we believe it's the right thing to do". Well fine... I absolutely get that prices can go up and I completely support fair wages. Only here's the problem... current Clutter prices as advertised on their website are LOWER THAN EVER. Currently $186/month for my exact unit. So can someone please explain to me how my storage unit that is literally just sitting in the warehouse untouched for 30 months is generating so many cost increases for the company... meanwhile a new customer who actually needs a truck filled with fuel to come pick up their things, plenty of materials to wrap and pack those items, and the labor required to drive the trucks and load and unload everything into the storage unit is currently able to do ALL THAT for $186/month for the same 10x10 unit that is now costing me $302?

In addition, despite a contract that says the final delivery of all my items will be free plus $38/ hour for labor, I have now been informed that it will cost $291.48 + $78/hour to close my account and have my items returned to me due to "unprecedented increases in supply chain costs". Only there AREN'T "unprecedented increases in supply chain costs" because they are currently advertising FREE pickup and delivery to new members in my exact same zip code.

Clutter claims it can't possibly honor the rates of my contract because costs have risen so much over the last few years.... only Clutter prices for new customers have never been lower -basically subsidized by rate increases on existing customers... a very shameful way to run a business. If Clutter can offer free final delivery to everyone signing up by the end of May, it can afford to honor my original contract rate of $38/hour... which is all I want. Unfortunately the best offer I have gotten after hours of phone calls and formal complaints is a measly $50 credit... RUN from this company

Canceled three days before move.

This is the worst company in the world never ever use them for anything. They called and canceled my move three days before the move. They said they don't do anything after the 25th when I had made the appointment much earlier in advance and had confirmed this appointment and spoken with other people in the company regarding my move 15 times in the meantime. First of I don't even believe them they are full of it. 2nd she says we can do it on the 1rst which is Easter is she just dumb. Now I'm moving in three days and its going to be impossible to get a moving company to move me on that short notice.

Stay Away.

BEWARE! I had my vape pen and a bottle of wine stolen by the movers. The vape pen had a $50 cartridge of CBD (hemp) oil which. I filed a claim the very next day and they are refusing to reimburse me stating that cbd oil is federally illegal. I have done my research and cbd oil that is derived from hemp and has 0 THC is completely legal. On top of that, even if it was illegal why does that mean my vape pen and wine (2 legal items) will not be reimbursed. Their policy is they don't pack any type of food. Yet my bottle of wine mysteriously went missing while I stepped away and my bf was occupied with the dog. I will be moving forward with legal. To top everything off, Clutter sent 6 guys and 2 huge trucks to pack and move a 2 bedroom apartment! The guy in charge stated it was a 6 bedroom house. So we had to wait about a half hour after they got there for them to even start any of the packing.

Do Not Use!

I believe it is wrong for companies to stay in business when they are a scam. Clutter is a scam. How can a moving and storage company lose a Cal King mattress? Well CLUTTER did! And they have been most unhelpful. Read the reviews before you ever consider using them - and then DON'T!! Please share this with everyone you know and protect them from the scam that is CLUTTER. They promise that all your belongings will be photographed and bar coded. Does not happen. Then when items are missing - like a Cal King Mattress - they stand by a contract that basically pays you nothing. STAY AWAY!!

Scammers.

WARNING!
I don't usually take the time to write reviews but my experience with this company has been so bad that I feel I have to let people know. Nine months ago I chose Clutter to move some of my things into storage, I spoke with a few companies but chose them because of the seemingly easy process of not hiring one company to move things and another to store them, I should have suspected a reason to be concerned when the salespeople were so eager to sign a contract that they called me back every day for 3 days, even though I said I was still shopping around. When I chose them, I measured and detailed each item I would be storing and they gave me a price based on the amount of space I would need, they also gave me a price for the pickup and an estimate of the time it would take two guys to load the truck. I live in a canyon in the Hollywood hills and told them right up front the limitations of the narrow roadway, and the size of the truck I would need, and they agreed and they gave me a time window in which to expect them.
They charged my credit card in advance or the move and
when they didn't show up in the window they gave me, I started calling, and the problems began.
They couldn't reach the driver, they didn't know when he would be there or why he was late, and when they were more then two hours late, and after many calls to their office, I was given the number of the driver who said he was on a lunch break and would be there when he was finished, they arrived 3 hours late in a huge truck that not only couldn't get anywhere near my house, but they hit an overhead tree limb trying and damaged it, also blocking my whole road and all the neighbors ( its a dead end street and they blocked 5 houses in.)When I walked down to the truck and asked what they were doing in such a huge truck, they claimed the dispatcher never told them about the limitations, and they could have driven the right truck if only they knew. They finally backed it down and parked a block away and then proceeded to carry every piece of furniture and every box all the way down the hill, and then hike back up arriving huffing and puffing every time. Needless to say, the move took much more time then it should have and on top of them taking most of the day to do a 2-3 hour move, they then charged me for all the time.. It took days of calling and writing and sending photos and video before they allowed a partial credit for the move, and then they told me my property needed a bigger amount of space then they had estimated ( even though is was exactly the list and sizes I had given them), so my monthly bill would be about 20% higher then I agreed to. I argued this too and got nowhere, so I resigned myself to having been hustled and I let it go.
It's now 9 months later and they just notified me that my rate would be increasing again, this time by 10% more, "to be able to provide you with the excellent service you've come to depend of us for"
What a joke.
at this rate they'll have doubled the price they quoted in no time, they're unpleasant and difficult to deal with on the phone and they seem to always respond to issues by saying, I'll talk to my manager and get back to you" and then you get a dismissive form email saying absolutely nothing helpful and doing nothing.
Now I have to either pay them an unreasonable amount more then I agreed to every month, (and wait for their next [EDIT] excuse to extort more money ) or I have to move everything elsewhere at my cost.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE A CHANCE TO DO THIS TO YOU!

Worst Experience I Have Ever Had With Any Business.

One star is really overshooting it. Clutter is not a legitimate business.

Thanks to clutter "LOSING" more than half of the things I put into storage, I no longer own a mattress, dresser, rug, television, and about $2000 worth of clothing. I am literally sleeping on an air mattress while they take their sweet time "investigating" the situation with no urgency whatsoever. Customer service doesn't seem to feel this is their problem.

Either their business model is complete garbage, or they're stealing from their customers. DO NOT USE CLUTTER.

Took my stuff to storage and service was great!

I used Clutter for the first time when moving between apartments in NYC. I got referred and it helped make the price very worthwhile, especially for the first month.
The two guys from Clutter came as early as the time frame they gave me suggested and were ready to work. They not only packed all my things while making sure my stuff is safe but also answered all my questions. It was very clear what I can store, what and when I can take them and so on. The entire process, by answering all my questions took not more than 20 minutes.
I now have my things in storage and I'm stress-free.
